Accommodation

To ensure that our students feel comfortable during their stay around Halle, not only excellent study conditions are important, but also comfortable accommodation.

Living as international students in Halle

Most local students live either in a dormitory of Studentenwerk Halle, in a shared flat with other students or in an own appartment.

We have summarised information and tips on finding accommodation in the following information sheet:

Student Administration

One of the cheapest and most popular offers for our international students looking for a room can be found through “Studentenwerk Halle” (Student Administration), which has more than 10 dormitories in Halle. There, the “Wohnheimtutoren” (resident assistants) look after the welfare of international students.

Student dormitory

The Student Administration Halle offers studio apprtments for one or two persons or single rooms in shared flats. The dormitories are spread all over the city of Halle. All rooms are furnished and offer fast internet connection. The monthly rent is about 245 Euros and covers all additional charges.

The application deadlines are:

for exchange students (for example ERASMUS+ - students):

  • for winter term: Juli 15th
  • for summer term: January 31st

for degree-seeking students:

  • for winter term: August 31st
  • for summer term: February 28th

The Student Administration will allocate the rooms in the dormitories in August and in February and will contact you via email.

We highly recommend that you fill in the application for a room in one of the dormitories right after the application form for your study in Halle. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that every international student gets a room in the dormitory.

Residence Hall Advising Team

The Studentenwerk offers a dormitory tutor programme in which students who live in the dormitories themselves help new students to find their way around the dormitory and Halle.
