German Language Courses

Martin Luther University Halle also has a language center where enrolled students, PhD students, guest students and employees can take a variety of language courses, including courses in Chinese, Italian, English and Russian. These courses usually take place in the mornings and registration takes place on the Stud-IP platform.

These language courses also include courses from beginner to advanced level in which you can learn German as a foreign language.

PhD students can take part in one of the German as a foreign language courses. If you are looking for more information on the full range of courses and current news from the Language Center, you can find it here.

Study Related German Language Courses in the summer semester 2025

The Language Center of MLU offers free German courses for students and employees of MLU on the level A1 to C2, as well as in phonetics. ECTS points are awarded for all courses (exception: phonetics). All ECTS courses end with an exam.

The German courses for international students and employees will start at the Language Center from April 7, 2025 (end of course: July 11, 2025)

After March 29, 2025, it is no longer possible to register for German courses.

All new students who have not yet completed a German course at the MLU Language Center, please take a placement test on Tuesday, 01.04.2025, 14:00 at the MLU Examination Center, Mansfelder Str. 15 (“Saline” tram station). Please arrive on time and bring your Stud.IP data with you! This test is mandatory for all new students.

The final assignment to the German courses is made by the lecturers in the first week of the course.

Please note that our courses are limited to a maximum of 16 participants. At the Language Center, we can only accept enrolled students and employees of the Martin Luther University Halle in our courses.

The courses with 10 ECTS are prioritized for program students (Business Economics).
