Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP) - gemischte (physisch/virtuell) Lernaktivitäten (Summer/Winter Schools) in Europa

Die Förderlinie Blended-Intensive-Programmes (BIP) soll der Entwicklung kurzer, intensiver und gemeinsamer Mobilitätscurricula und Aktivitäten, z.B. gemischter Sommer- oder Winterschulen, in Europa dienen.

Im Aufbau müssen die BIPs eine Kombination aus einer kurze physische Gruppenmobilität (5-30 Tage) und einer virtuellen Phase nicht definierter Dauer im Vorhinein oder im Nachgang darstellen.

Voraussetzungen für eine Förderung sind (Stand 02/2021):

• Beteiligung von mind.3 Hochschulen aus 3 unterschiedlichen Programmländern    am Vorhaben (MLU mitgerechnet)
• Mindestteilnehmerzahl 15 Studierende und/oder HochschulmitarbeiterInnen
• Vergabe von Minimum 3 ECTS für Studierende

Die Förderung sieht Reisekostenzuschüsse für die TeilnehmerInnen (gemäß EU-Vorgabe) sowie max. 10.000,00 EUR Sachkostenzuschuss vor.

ERASMUS weltweit - Mobilitätsförderung (außerhalb Europas)

Since 2015, the ERASMUS program with its international dimension offers the possibility to promote academic exchange and cooperation with all countries of the world.

Eligible for funding are, as already known in the key action 1 in a European context, student mobility (study, internship) as well as staff mobility (teaching, further education and training).

Applications for mobility funds are submitted annually as part of a separate project application with a duration of 24/36 months. The call for applications is expected to be published in October. Application deadline is expected to be in February. Applications must be submitted to the EU via the International Office. Key Action 2

Key Action 2 promotes cooperation projects of organisations, institutions and universities between institutions both within Europe and with partner countries worldwide in order to support exchange and thus innovative cooperation. Please note: The terms of the exit agreement of 31 January 2020 stipulated that the UK will still participate in the expiring Erasmus+ programme generation (2014-2020). The new Partnership Agreement does not foresee participation as a Programme Country for the upcoming programme generation (2021-2027).    The United Kingdom will instead have partner country status (Region 14, cf. Programme Guide, p. 35)

Here are the funding lines in Key action 2:

Strategic Partnerships (former Strategic Partnerships decentralised activity))

Like the previous Erasmus+ Strategic Partnerships    programme line in the previous Erasmus+ programme generation (2014 - 2020), the successor programme line Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnerships 2021-2027    also offers German higher education institutions the opportunity to advance their internationalisation projects across educational sectors.

Sector specific priorities have been defined for the Cooperation Partnerships in the field of Higher Education, of which at least one must be served per project:

• Projects that promote strategic and structured cooperation between higher education institutions
• projects that encourage innovative learning and teaching methods to meet societal challenges
• Projects that promote the development of STEM / STEAM in higher education, especially the participation of women.
• Projects that recognise excellence in learning, teaching and skills development
• Projects that create inclusive systems of higher education through inclusive approaches to mobility and cooperation activities
• Projects that support digital literacy in higher education

Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnerships are structured collaborations, i.e. at least three European organisations from Erasmus+ Programme Countries    must work together to support their internationalisation activities in different education sectors. The focus of Cooperation Partnerships is therefore on close European cooperation. However, so-called "partner countries   " can also be involved in Cooperation Partnerships (only as project partners, not as applicants), provided that their participation represents a clearly visible added value for the project in terms of content. The United Kingdom can participate as a partner country under the above-mentioned condition.

Cooperation Partnerships have a minimum duration of 12 months and a maximum duration of 36 months.

The funding amount is a lump sum of EUR 120,000, EUR 250,000 or EUR 400,000.

Applications must be submitted to the National Agency within the DAAD (NA DAAD).
Applicants have to submit their grant application by 22 March 2023 at 12:00:00 (midday Brussels time) for projects starting between 1 September and 31 December of the same year.

Erasmus Mundus programme line to support transnational courses of excellence for highly qualified students.

In the new Erasmus+ generation 2021 - 2027, there are two funding lines within Erasmus Mundus: Erasmus Mundus Joint Master EMJM (former Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees EMJMD) and Erasmus Mundus Design Measures EMDM (new).

EMJM are joint international Master's programmes in a consortium of higher education institutions consisting of at least three higher education institutions. Of these, at least two higher education institutions must come from Erasmus+ Programme Countries   . The third HEI can be from an Erasmus+ Partner Country   . The applicant can be either a Programme Country HEI or a Partner Country HEI. Other academic and non-academic partners may be involved.

The consortium awards full scholarships to excellent students from all over the world. Students spend periods of study at at least two consortium universities, at least one of which is at a programme country university. A second period of study can take place in a partner country. The programme concludes with a multiple or joint degree.

At the time of application, the fully developed joint study programme must be available and, once selected, operational and ready to be promoted worldwide.

EMDMs promote the development of a joint transnational Master's programme in Europe (and beyond) in order to apply for Erasmus Mundus Joint Master funding in the second step, if applicable. However, a subsequent application under Erasmus Mundus Joint Master is not mandatory.

Applications are submitted electronically to the European Commission via the Funding & Tender Opportunities Portal. The deadline for the 2023 call is 16.02.2023 at 5 pm (Brussels time)

Capacity Building in the field of Higher Education (centralised activity)

Capacity Building projects support the modernisation, accessibility and internationalisation of higher education institutions in the partner countries of the European Union   . These projects aim to strengthen cooperation between higher education institutions, promote voluntary alignment with EU developments in higher education and support direct personal contact.

The projects have a duration of two to three years.

The EACEA will make the electronic application documents available on the Funding and Tender Opportunities Portal (FTOP) after publication of the call. The submission of the application is done directly through this portal.
The deadline for applications is 16.02.2023 at 5 pm (Brussels time).

Alliances for Innovatin (centralised activity)

The Erasmus+ Alliances for Innovation are divided into the funding lines

Lot 1: Alliances for Education and Business and

Lot 2: Alliances for Sectoral Cooperation for Competence Development.

Applications are submitted electronically to the EACEA in Brussels. The application deadline is 3rd of May 2023 at 17:00 (Brussels time).

European Universities (centralised activity)

"European Universities" should act as models of good practice to progressively increase the quality, international compettiveness and attractiveness of European higher education.

A European University Alliance consists of at least three higher education institutions from three Erasmus+ Programme Countries   .

The term "higher education institutions" should be understood in its broadest sense, including all types of higher education institutions. The European Universities Initiative corresponds to a long-term vision and in this context the following key elements are expected from the "European Universities" by 2025:

• A common, integrated, long-term shared strategy for education with, wherever possible, links to research and innovation and to society at large.
• A European, "inter-university" higher education campus
• European knowledge-building teams ("challenge-based approach") of students and researchers - jointly addressing societal and other challenges of their choice in a multidisciplinary approach

In funding area 1 "Intensification of existing deep institutional transnational cooperation", HEIs already involved in such cooperation, including in particular the alliances selected in the first Erasmus+ pilot call in 2019, are eligible to apply. Other HEIs can join the existing collaborative alliances.

In funding area 2 " Development of new deep institutional transnational cooperation", new higher education alliances can apply (it is planned to fund 2 to 4 new alliances in 2023).

The deadline for applications is 31 January 2023 at 17:00. Another call for proposals for the European Universities Initiative is planned for the first quarter of 2024.

Jean Monnet-Actions

Jean Monnet Actions promote excellent teaching and research on Europe Union Studies and the European integration process. From 2021 onwards, they will broaden their traditional focus on higher education and open up to the school and vocational training sectors.

Please note: Universities worldwide (except from Belarus) are eligible to apply for the Jean Monnet Actions, including those from Greater Britain.

Applications from all subject areas are possible, not only from the social/political sciences, but also, for example, from the natural sciences, as long as there is an EU connection.

Funding is available for:

• Modules: short teaching programmes of at least 40 hours per academic year in the field of European Union studies offered at a higher education institution. They can focus on general, specific or multidisciplinary aspects of EU-related topics and can therefore be offered by several lecturers.

• Chairs: for professors specialising in the European Union. Within the Jean Monnet Chair, at least 90 teaching hours per academic year must be taught by the Jean Monnet chair holder himself/herself. He/she may also have a team to support and extend the activities of the chair, including the provision of additional teaching hours.

• Centres of Excellence: Research and knowledge centres on EU themes that bring together expertise and the skills of high-level experts with the aim of developing synergies between different disciplines and resources in European studies and creating joint transnational activities.

Applications are to be submitted to the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). Applicants have to submit their grant application by 14 February at 5 pm (Brussels time).
