24.11.2024, Trip to the Leipzig Panometer

Dear PhD students and postdocs of MLU,

We would like to invite you on an excursion to the Panometer Leipzig. This is a visual panorama (105 metres in circumference and around 30 metres in height) in a former gasometer, which is accompanied by a thematic exhibition in German and English. The Panometer was created in 2003 by the Austrian-born artist Yadegar Asisi, who invented the name as a portmanteau of ‘Panorama’ and ‘Gasometer’.

The current exhibition theme is ‘The Cathedral of Monet - Freedom in Painting’ and takes you back in time to the small French town of Rouen at the end of the 19th century. The themed exhibition in front of the panorama painting focuses on the French artist Claude Monet and the Impressionist style. The link below will give you a closer impression.

The excursion will take place on Sunday, 24 November, from 1 – ca. 5 pm and includes a joint visit to the Leipzig Panometer.

To find more information or to register, please click here.

24 January 2023: Understanding your Payslip - Online-Workshop

If you work at the University of Halle with an employment contract, you will receive payslips at irregular intervals. Those payslips („Bezügemitteilung“) contain the calculation of your monthly gross remuneration and the characteristics on which it is based (grade, remuneration group, family allowance, bonuses, etc.). In addition to personal deductions, the salary statement also shows the net pay due after deduction of statutory levies (taxes, social security contributions). As a beneficiary, you should therefore be able to understand and check the calculation of your remuneration and the resulting transfers on the basis of the notifications. However, this is not easy and you have probably had questions while reading the payslips. You are not alone in this! That is why the International Office, together with the Human Resources Department, is offering a short training session on 24 January 2023 on how to read and understand the pay slip. The individual items of the document will be discussed, the tax class, health insurance and co. will be dealt with and of course you can ask questions.
The event will take place online via MLU Conf.

We kindly ask you to submit your questions in advance by email to by 17.01.2023.

Please register via the link below before 17th January 2023.
